The Mystery Man…

James Marriott

A couple years ago Cynthia "The Russian Beauty" Zolnikov began talking of this man "Ralph" that she had met while visiting a friend or relative in San Diego. According to Cynthia, Ralph was in the Navy.

I hung out a lot with Cynthia that summer, we even joked that she was my pseudo girlfriend and vice-versa. Not once did I meet this mystery man… did he even exist, was Cynthia just making him up?

Ralph was on deployment was her story. I saw a couple pictures, but that could have been her cousin for all I know. Wasn't Ralph jealous, here we were jet skiing several times a month, hanging out, while he was nowhere to be found?

Well, prior to the "Tuna" show we all met for drinks and then dinner. Kevin noticed this strange man looking into the restaurant, and then he saw Cynthia. In they came, and introductions were made. Ralph was her date's name. Could this be the same elusive Ralph she talked about, or was he an escort for the night. (Pride is a huge thing)

I sat with Cynthia and "Ralph" during dinner and we had some great conversations, and he and I hit it off really well. He also had "the background" down pretty well. Very convincing I must say.

I have known Cynthia for four years or so now, and I have never known her to be a liar. She and I have always been pretty open with each other, so I guess I have no reason to doubt her.

I sure enjoyed this "Ralph" guy at the dinner, I sure hope he is the real thing… I hate getting that close to escorts….

This Just In......

I just put this issue to bed when Cynthia called me and said that her and Ralph (I guess he was the real deal!) went up to Tahoe this week and got married! Congratulations go out to both of them!

Tahoe Fun! -James Marriott

The weekend of my birthday, March 12 was spent up in South Lake Tahoe with some of my friends and family.

Kevin and I went up Wednesday night for a rare, "guys" only night out. We were going to ski Thursday but ended up driving around sightseeing instead. We had a great time having no plans, no true destination.

We drove back Thursday night and Friday we picked up and headed back up with our favorite ladies, the kids and Jeff in tow. Lee and his new lady friend Kollette arrived the night before.

Friday night we made a bunch (Kevin and I over estimated the amount of food needed) of Fajita's and we all enjoyed a nice dinner together. The "old" folks went to bed early and Yvonne and I went to Nero's to dance.

Saturday we all went to play in the snow. Yvonne and the Davis kids went up and down the hill many times, while the rest of us made our obligatory one trip!

We went to Virginia City later and checked out all of the little shops in the 1880 era town. If you are in the area, this is a must see.

Jackie, Hal and the kids made it up Saturday night after skiing at Kirkwood. Sunday was time to clean up and go home. Thanks to all for making this another great birthday!
