The Tile Floor Project

April - July 2002

What we thought would be a two week project turned into a few months.  Our contractor (me!) caused delay after delay.

We were surprised to find a "gypsum" based leveling compound under the old floor covering and had to literally hammer it up bit by bit.  This bothered the contractor most and he really dragged his feet in this process as it was the worst back breaking (his back was already broken!) work you could imagine!

The gypsum had to come up per several tile "experts" as it would lift up when the mortar is set to lay the tile.

Here are some photos of the process...

(Yep, gypsum under this too!)
